Empowering: Ms taken

What is it?
This Ms taken ring is a fake engagement ring packed in a key chain. Whenever women feel like they want to be commited without the actual comittment, they can put on the ring and be Ms Taken.

Why it’s cool?
Every woman should decide who she wants to talk to (and get her flirt on with) and who she doesn't. The easy-on, easy-off Ms. Taken ring is perfect for any situation. It’s empowering for women and gives them more control on certain situations. Back in the days in Ethiopia I used to have a fake engagement ring, I think this will be a practical and empowering tool for a lot of women.

Interactive display window.

What is it?
This is a project from Marcus Wallander at Hyper Island in Stockholm. They created this interactive window display for a street-wear clothing brand called WeSC.
The business concept of WeSC is "Good people doing great things together".
This brand hired professonal skaters and snowboarders as their activists. These activist (for example skater Jason Lee) are cool, inspiring, and are the ones that differentiates WeSC from other street clothing brands.
The idea behind this interactive window is  to have the brand and clothing interact with people as they walk past the window. The stars of the video are the activists of WeSC.

Why it’s cool?
The people who walk by this interactive shopping window get to control the video. By designing this concept people get to know the WeSC activists but they don’t force it on to them. WeSC makes it easy to engage, without asking any effort of their customers.
What's being seen on the screen is created by users online, all over the world. The creators get their 10 minutes of fame by displaying their name and their personalized pattern.
Watch the video for a first impression and walk by the shopping window for this awesome experience.

There's a Newspaper Being Made, Right Now, In a Museum.

What is it?
Currently there’s a newspaper plastering the windows at the ‘New Museum’ in New York City. But this time it’s not for cover the windows due preparations for an upcoming show, it’s actually part of the exhibition inside.  A new publication called the New City Reader is being produced as part of a show called The Last Newspaper, an exhibition that focuses on the way that artists interpret and remix the news.
The main ideas that founders  Joseph Grima and Kazys Varnelis wanted to explore with this project are the intersections of urban space, public space, and information space. The staff is actually working in the museum and visitors have the ability to observe them and ask them anything about this project.

Why it’s cool?
With this project the founders are reactivating a traditional medium. The traditional thought of a newspaper is to bring people togheter. Newspapers were used to project a city’s identity out to the world and held up a mirror to it’s citizenry.

People can walk by the museum, stop and read the newspaper on the windows of the museum or grab a hardcopy issue inside. It’s also fascinating to see the team at work inside the museum.
When you’re in the building you can be a part ofone of the most interactive experiences of the project: a Hermes Rocket typewriter where visitors can peck out letters to the editor, some of which will find their way into future issues.

This dreamteam explains the succes of the typewriter: "Though hardly anybody knows how to hit a strong manual keystroke, and even though the machine is in bad need of a new ribbon, for whatever reason, people love the typewriter."

Let me google that for you!

If you're a power searcher, or other people think you are, and you're getting tired of all those requests for answers to questions that a quick Google search would provide, try: Let me google that for you.
Enter a search term, click the Google Search button, and a link appears that you can copy, paste and send to your friend. When they click the link, an animation displays the 'complicated' process of searching on Google for information. Then it directs the user to the actual search results page from Google.
This tool is great when you have friends when people keep asking you stupid questions.

Lately I've been getting a lot of questions about my study. I'm studying International Lifestyle Studies and I'm sure most people out here never heard about that study.
So let me google that for you:

Real Spray-On Clothes Part 2: The Fashion Show! Science in Style!

Earlier I published a post about real spray-on clothes by Fabrican Ltd. If you want to read it again click here.

Two days ago the designer Manel Torres showed his innovative creations on the catwalk.
Watch the video below!

Another few reasons why this new concept will take over the worldwide society:

  • The technology can be used across many industries, positively impacting the lives of millions of people as well as the environment.
  • From Spray-on clothes, to Spray-on medicine patches, to Spray-on hygiene wipes, to Spray-on air fresheners (plus many more uses!), Fabrican is developing products with real benefits.
  • Fabrican Ltd. is a company exploiting inter-disciplinary research which links the subjects of science and design.

Once again: beautifull creations! This is a great development for future markets.

Real spray-on clothes: Clothing of the future?

Forget weaving and stitching clothes!
A new material could be sprayed directly onto your body and have you ready to go out in minutes.
Engineer Paul Luckham and fashion designer Manel Torres from Imperial College London combined cotton fibres, polymers and a solvent to form a liquid that becomes a fabric when sprayed.
The material can be built up in layers to create a garment of your desired thickness and can also be washed and worn again like any other fabric.

This would be great on the catwalk but besides that the technology could have a range of other uses. They could create spray-on-bandages for example.
"It's a sterilised material coming from an aerosol can, and you can add drugs to it to help a wound heal faster," says Torres.
On September 20th, a fashion show at will feature the first couture collection created with the spray-on material. I think this invention is innovative and will have a great impact on the fashion industry.
In this video the designer will show you his beautiful creature

We tap water! How about you?

Still many people drink bottled water in the Netherlands..
Don't you think that's strange?

Especially, when you considering that we have one of the best drinking waters in the world. And it comes straight out of our taps. That’s why ''we tap water''  promotes to only drink water from the taps.

At home, in the office or in bars and restaurants. It’s better for you and for our environment!

Let's make this happen worldwide!
So from now on, please only drink water out of the taps. Make me proud!

The perfect water bottle: Sustainable, functional, and fashionable!

They found it: the perfect reusable bottle for your tap water. Sustainable, functional, and fashionable!
A lot of the plastic bottles end up in the ocean
Plastic waste is a worldwide problem. Be a part of the solution!

      WHY THE DOPPER?
  1. Tap water should become our favorite drink: no calories, pure and sustainable!
When you’re thirsty, a drink of tap water is 100% effective. No calories and it’s FREE!

  2. The Dopper reduces plastic waste. In a small country like The Netherlands alone, at least 500,000 plastic water bottles are thrown away every day. They end up in the garbage, in the street or in the rivers and seas. Did you know that there is an island of plastic waste the size of France and Spain together floating around in the oceans? And, to produce 1 plastic bottle you need 1 liter of water and ¼ liter of oil! The Dopper will be made of recycled and sustainable material, without using toxics. With the dishwasher or the brush you can clean it again and again!

  3. The existing water bottles are....well. not quiet the thing! Refilling the existing plastic bottles is only possible so many times before they become smelly and grubby. The Dopper is the perfect bottle when you’re on the go, and – it looks amazing!

  4. The Dopper supports the NGO SIMAVI This organisation supports the development of drinking-water projects in the poorest countries on earth.

  5. There is a Dopper phone app that shows you the places all over the world where you can fill your bottle with tap water for free.
The dopper will be for sale from October 1st. You can pre-order here

Vegetarians live 10 years longer than meat-eaters

It's been more than 6 years since I finished my last piece of meat. A lot of people think that must be really hard for me. But I can assure you, it's not. Everytime I have dinner I make a choice. I decided not to eat meat for the rest of my life. I already regret I ate it for the first 12 years.

Now I will enumerate a few reasons to go vegetarian. And I'm pretty sure deep inside, most of you will agree.

  • Animal cruelty: On today's factory farms, animals are crammed by the thousands into filthy windowless sheds,or other horrible systems. These animals will never raise their families, build nests, or do anything that is natural to them. They won't even feel the sun on their backs or breathe fresh air until the day they make their one-way-journey to the slaughterhouse.
  • All animals are equal:
Often people decide not to eat animals like cats, dogs and horses. They want to make a statement which makes theirselves proud. But deep inside we all know farmed animals are no less intelligent or capable of feeling pain than are the animals we cherish as our companions. For example:  chickens begin learning from their mothers while they are still in their shells, and pigs can play video games better than some primates can. So we can conclusion that all kind of animals are intresting animals who value their lives.
  • Your health:
Vegetarian foods provide us with all the nutrients that we need, minus the fat, cholesterol, and contaminants that are found in meat. Plant-based diets protect us against heart disease, diabetes, obesity, strokes, and several types of cancer. Vegetarians also have stronger immune systems and, on average, live 10 years longer than meat-eaters do. So, what's holding you back?

You would do me a favor by watching this video and meet your meat:

Recycled Furniture

This table is actually made of reclaimed magazines, and aside from being a fully functional piece of furniture, it’s extremely beautifull.

Artists for Humanity is a unique center in Boston which hires teen artists to produce Eco-friendly art and furniture.
These young people all took a program in the summer or an after school program during the school year, and eventually get paid to create sustainable products for private and commercial clients. I couldn't be more jealous.
I've never seen such thing before, I'm fascinated with it. It's called “ReVision furniture“.

The Glowball against global warming. Be part of the solution!

The Glowball is a quality football with a glow in the dark equator. Let the sun or artificial light shine on the ball and then take it to the darkest place in your house.
The equator literally
GLOWS IN THE DARK.

But there's more!
The Glowball also makes you wondering what kind

of game we're playing with our planet.
Can we play tricks with our Earth?
Can we score for the environment, climate and nature?
The Glowball is produced according to official FIFA-standards for training balls.
It's also a Fair Trade ball: the people who make the balls in Pakistan receive a fair price.
And the production of the Glowball is climate neutral and its

materials is partially biodegradable.

For every ball purchased: €1,50 will be donated to charity.

Welcome to Everlasting Exposure!

I would like to welcome you to my blog called 'Everlasting Exposure'!

I made this blog for several reasons. I have been thinking about getting a blog for a while. A recent lecture about blogging gave me the final push to set this up.

Two weeks ago I started to study: International Lifestyle Studies.
This is a brand new study in the Netherlands.

In 4 years I'll graduate as a Lifestyle proffesional. Which means I can find a job as a trendwatcher in all kind of industries (for example human movement or fashion). So far I'm really enjoying it and I hope I'm able to convey my enthusiasm to all of you with this blog.

My intention of 'Everlasting Exposure' is to expose the world and it's recent trends from my point of view.

Feel free to criticize or comment me in every way, cause at the end a blog is like a never ending conversation.
